NEW YEAR - NEW STAFF
Jon Bruce joins as Editor. Jon learned his trade at Pepper Post in London where he worked for 5 years, starting as a runner and quickly progressing to edit assitant and then editor, working on a wide range of programmes including documentaries, features, and network dramas such as Spooks, Ashes To Ashes, Poirot, Midsomer Murders, Sherlock and Lip Service. His creative skills and attention to detail mean he will be a valuable addition to the busy team here at Edit 123.
Kirsty Wright starts work as Trainee Tape Op, having impressed us when she previously helped us out for busy spells and holiday cover. She will also assist Debbie Connal in taking care of our clients and keeping things running smoothly over the 4 floors of the facility.
FISH NETS
Fishing – Scotland’s most dangerous occupation – is traditionally a job for the boys. But in "Caileagan an Iasgaich" [Trawler Girls], three women don oilskins, grab the gutting knife and take to the seas in a four-week challenge that will transform them from girly girls to able sea-women, culminating in their crewing a North Sea trawler on a ten-day voyage. The words ‘fish’ and ‘net’ will no longer mean a type of hosiery to our gutsy caileagan. A Caledonian TV series for BBC Alba.
EDIT/SOUND UPGRADES
We will soon be upgrading to the latest Version 6 Avid software across all our offline and online suites, as well as upgrading to Version 10 ProTools in sound dubbing. This investment will keep us bang up to date with the latest workflow improvements to both video and editing software. The cumulative effect will be that our suites will be faster, therefore we will have more time to be creative in the final online/grade/dub bearing in mind the tight turnaround schedules demanded by todays programme budgets.
